What does web design involve?

Web design is the process of designing and building the pages that make up your web site. Perhaps you have some knowledge of web design and you are tempted to build your web site yourself or perhaps you have a friend, who 'knows' how to design web pages, who offers to build your site for you. If you or your friends really do have the necessary expertise then do it. You will save a lot of money as this is the most expensive part of setting up a web site.

However, be careful! A good web site needs to be well thought out, not cluttered, not having a lot of unnecessary animation that may be 'cool' to design but detracts from the content of your site. Also, search engine optimisation of your site needs to be well planned in advance. It will be more difficult to do (and more expensive) if you or your friend have not allowed for this in your design.
