What is domain name registration?

Registering a domain name is the first step in creating a web site. A domain name is used by the internet to identify your web site and internet users use this name to find and access your site. It is sometimes called your 'web address'. It stands to reason, therefore, that the name must be unique. The name usually begins with 'www.' and usually ends with '.co.uk' or '.com'. The part between the 'www.' and the '.co.uk/.com' is the part that must be unique.

Domain names are registered for 2 years so, if you wish to retain your internet presence, they need to be re-registered every two years. If you register with us we will remind you when registration needs to be renewed.

If you would like to know if a particular domain name is currently available click here to check it.
